Buffalo, Wyoming

The Occidental Hotel in Buffalo, Wyoming

Buffalo, Wyoming. Who knew?

Owen Wister wrote The Virginian at the Occidental Hotel in Buffalo. It’s the first literary “walk down” in Western literature.

Craig Johnson, author of the Walt Longmire Series of mysteries and A&E TVs, Longmire series, lives nearby. Several of the places in his books are places in Buffalo.

Ernest Hemingway stayed there.

And, the characters who adorn so many stories, including President Theodore Roosevelt, Calamity Jane, Tom Horn, Butch Cassidy and more were regulars.

Who knew? Who can miss it?
